Big Bear Valley (BBV) is the 7th most biologically diverse place in the United States! Friends of Big Bear Valley (@FOBBV) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. They exist to protect and preserve the amazing natural surroundings through environmental education and advocacy about BBV’s value and community benefit. The 15-mile long Big Bear Valley, with its beautiful lake, sits inside the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California. It is also home to two famous bald eagles Jackie and Shadow.
FOBBV planned, raised funds, obtained permits, and installed their Bald Eagle Nest camera on the first ever active bald eagle nest in Big Bear Valley, California in 2015. The camera and sound system are solar powered and runs to their live stream—available to watch 24/7. The surrounding area is closed to the public during nesting season to protect the eagles as bald eagles have been known to abandon nests when disturbed by humans.
Many eagles have come and gone from BBV over the years. The past few years however, eagles Jackie and Shadow have been the stars of the Live Stream. Together, they have incubated 7 clutches of eggs, hatched 5 chicks, and raised 3 eaglets to fledge. The pair have mesmerized millions as they’ve sat dedicated to shielding their 3 eggs laid in January. Guarded from predators, wind, rain, and harsh snow, viewers are waiting for these eggs to hatch.
Over the past two decades, since FOBBV was founded, developers have proposed many projects around the valley that would have severely impacted or destroyed significant habitats, endangered species and/or the serene mountain environment. FOBBV works with other environmental groups and with government agencies to protect these special surroundings. Your purchase of this shirt will help fund these initiatives, help preserve this incredible place, and keep Jackie and Shadow protected.

]]>We are pleased to share that Central Pennsylvania Humane Society will be Puppie Love's next donation recipient of $5000! Central Pennsylvania Humane Society (CPHS) has been operating in Altoona, PA since since 1895, providing a safe haven for animals searching for their forever homes and meeting the needs of their community for many years. There are no time limits for animals in their shelter. Animals may remain available for adoption at CPHS as long as they are physically and mentally healthy. They have provided loving care and forever homes to more than 90% of the animals that enter their facility. CPHS saves roughly 1,800-2,000 animals every year!
CPHS is also part of the Puppie Love Pack! We have been working with CPHS for 3.5 years, providing them with custom Puppie Love merchandise available at their Shelter. At the beginning of 2024, we learned of a horrific situation unfolding nearby in Bedford County, PA. Multiple humane societies, including CPHS responded to the scene of a home where more than 90 dogs and 8 cats were discovered. Cages upon cages were stacked from the floor to the ceiling, animals were malnourished and covered in their own excrement, many of them in need of serious medical care. On New Year’s Day, over 100 people packed into the Bedford County Humane Society to assist with the intake of these seized animals, which included CPHS staff. This rescue mission would require 2 Vet Clinics, 2 Shelters and multiple volunteers to provide the life-saving treatment, and adequate housing for these animals.
Joe Zolna, Board President of CPHS who was on scene reported that this was the worst scene he had ever witnessed while working with the humane society. While many community members brought supplies to these shelters following the rescue mission, all of the dogs have needed some type of medical care and CPHS is still in desperate need of funds. When we learned of the situation, we knew that our February donation of $5,000 was going to go to our friends at CPHS.
On Wednesday 02/14, one of our team members here at Puppie Love went to visit CPHS and provided them with a goodie box and check for $5,000. We remain grateful to our customers who continue to support the Puppie Love mission and make donations like these possible. These shelters rely on donations and fundraising efforts in order to find loving, forever homes for animals in their care, and without your support we could not give back in this way!
Thank you for being a part of the Puppie Love Pack and helping to save dogs across the globe.
Thank you to CPHS for continuing to step up and meet the needs of animals throughout your community through communication, compassion and conviction.

Last week, American Humane reached out to Puppie Love® asking if we would be interested in helping to bring Military Working Dog (MWD) John home for retirement, for the holidays. Of course, we said yes absolutely! We’ve donated $7,000 to help cover expenses, as American Humane facilitated the reunion of retired MWD John to his handler. This donation, which is more than our typical monthly donation was made possible by our wonderful customers, and all the support you have shown this Holiday Season! We are thrilled to play a small part in this journey to a well-deserved retirement. Read more about MWD John and his handler below.
MWD John is 10-year-old German Shepard Explosive Detection Dog. After a decade of military service, he is retiring as his health declines and he is no longer being able to perform his duties. He started his career at Dog Training School in Lackland Air Force Base, then was sent to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii where he dutifully served eight years with seven different handlers. US Air Force airmen, SSgt Michael Alcala, was paired with MWD John from Sep 2018-Sep 2021 (the longest time of any of the seven handlers), working in security and law enforcement roles across the island of Oahu. MWD John has officially retired as of Wednesday 12/20/23 and has been reunited with SSgt Michael who was ready to welcome him to his “fur-ever” home in San Antonio, TX, and adopt him. Such a special Christmas gift!
As always, THANK YOU to our customers for being on mission with Puppie Love® and helping to care for dogs across the globe.
Thank you to American Humane for your continued work in promoting the welfare and safety of animals for over 100 years! Since 1877 American Humane has been the first to serve, wherever animals need rescue, shelter, protection, or security. From animal rescue to military initiatives, to monitoring animal actors in Hollywood, to conservation... American Humane is driven to help all animals.
And finally, thank you to all those who have served our Country, including our Nation’s Military Working Dogs. We remain grateful for your service.

]]>The state of Alabama has one of the highest dog euthanasia rates in the county. Due to these high rates, North Alabama and surrounding areas are overwhelmed with abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. Public shelters are overrun and without no-kill shelters like HASRA to fill the gap, these unhoused animals would have little to no chance of survival. Heart of Alabama: Save, Rescue, Adopt (HASRA) is a 501-c3 non-profit rescue organization that has been working tirelessly since 2009, to help reduce these euthanasia rates. HASRA often takes in dogs that would typically end up in animal control facilities and are often the hardest cases, but they greet each one with open arms. To date, HASRA has saved 13,500 dogs and over 832 in 2023!
HASRA is committed to save as many animals as possible in Northern AL. With the help of partner rescues located nationwide, the animals they save become loving family members for humans all over the country. Unfortunately, HASRA recently lost their grant writer and donations are down tremendously. It's no exaggeration to say that the dedicated staff at HASRA have had a rough year. That is why it was a no-brainer for us to step in and make our next $5,000 donation on this Giving Tuesday to HASRA on behalf of our amazing Puppie Love Customers.
Upon hearing the news of this donation, Debbie Rappuhn, Founder and President of HASRA replied: "I am elated. At this time, we are all pretty down, so you have given us HOPE. This is so appreciated... I am just so thrilled about this and cannot wait to share with all of our team." Messages like these remind the Puppie Love Team of exactly why we do what we do, and again how truly grateful we are for all the support provided by the Puppie Love Pack!
HASRA shared a sweet story about a mama pup called "Winnie" and her determination to protect her babies at all costs. You'll want to grab the tissues for this one!
Winnie’s Story
HASRA’s real life “Winnie the Pooh” litter.
“During a recent cold snap with temperatures dropping into the teens, a “pregnant” mother was found stray in a neighborhood and brought to HASRA. A quick examination determined that she was not pregnant but had obviously recently delivered her puppies. The lady who found her had kept her inside the previous night. Given the extreme cold temperatures, we had little hope of finding any puppies alive, even if we were able to locate them.
We immediately followed the lady back to her neighborhood and she took Winnie for a walk, hoping she would lead us to her litter which by this time had been alone for at least 24 hours in during below freezing temperatures. Unfortunately, Winnie wiggled out of her leash and escaped. We quickly lost her in the high grass and trees despite searching for several hours as it grew dark. At this point, we were in despair and felt things had gone from bad to hopeless.
However, the next morning we spotted Winnie just as she apparently dove into the base of a tree trunk! As we inspected a small hole just below ground level of the hollow tree, we could hear puppies nursing! A flashlight revealed our happy mother nursing her babies in the only warm and protected area available. Winnie came out for a snack, and we easily secured her. The puppies were beyond our reach, but we were able to gently and safely retrieve all eight healthy puppies with a grip extension. They were in amazingly good shape thanks to their very resourceful mother! Our now safe and happy family are currently living their best lives with their forever humans in the Chicago area.”
Below is a Photo Of Winnie and her Pups as well as 2 video links to her Rescue Story and Update <3
As always, THANK YOU TO OUR CUSTOMERS for being on mission with Puppie Love and helping to save dogs across the globe.
THANK YOU TO HASRA for your continued work to help animals in need and being the voice for those who do not have one!

]]>The results are in, and we are THRILLED to announce that our Puppie Love Pack has raised another incredible donation! Following the recent Maui wildfires and sale of the Maui Strong Pup Tee, we are able to make our first donation of $43,000 to the Maui Humane Society (MHS)! MHS is the only non-profit open admission animal shelter on the island of Maui. They have been working tirelessly in the face of this tragedy to care for injured animals and reunite families with their lost pets. This donation was only made possible because of YOU, our amazing customers, and the support you’ve shown over the last few weeks!
How did this all come to be? On August 8th, 2023, a brush fire began in Maui’s Upcountry region and grew into a 1,000-acre forest fire. Fueled by the strong winds from Hurricane Dora the wildfire begins moving towards the town of Lahaina closing roads and causing evacuations of schools, neighborhoods, and road closures. With little time to prepare or evacuate the town of Lahaina was devastated. While some citizens attempted to fight back the fire to protect their homes, many were forced to flee into the ocean to avoid the flames. The damage caused to Lahaina is considered one of the worst natural disasters in Hawaii’s history and the nation’s deadliest since 1918. With such little time to prepare thousands of pets were injured and separated from their owners.
Though Puppie Love is not a Hawaiian based company, or associated with MHS, our mission is to help shelters and animals in need, no matter where they are. So, we listened to your calls for help yet again, did what we do best and created a t-shirt to raise funds. But the rest was up to our loyal customers! On August 22nd, 2023, we released the Maui Strong Pup. We had hoped to create a design that would be well-loved and allow us to make a small donation to MHS to support them during this catastrophic time. The hopes of a small donation were quickly squandered. Almost immediately, it became clear that this was going to be one of Puppie Love’s best-selling shirts, allowing for a much larger donation. Because of the loyal support of our customers, $43,000 is being donated to the Maui Humane Society. This is a donation that could not happen without our amazing community. Thank you all for your continued dedication!
Maui Humane Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has been servicing the island of Maui since 1953! Their mission is “to protect and save the lives of Maui’s animals, accepting all in need, educating the community, and inspiring respect and compassion towards all animals.” Being the only open admission animal shelter on the island has led to a massive influx of animals in need of help. Due to the severe speed of the fire many owners were separated from their pets with an estimated over 3,000 missing pets. Once first responders had determined the area was safe for animal rescue crews to enter, teams were sent into Lahaina to look for animals in need of medical help. MHS has remained committed to lifesaving & reunification efforts for ALL ANIMALS on the island of Maui. Given the large number of animals in need, MHS has been treating these injured animals while simultaneously working closely with available foster homes and transporting animals once healthy enough. This donation will help MHS treat even more animals and reunite them with their owners. It will also allow for more spay and neuter services, 24/7 animal emergency response care, pet emergency shelter and supplies, and humane education programs.
THANK YOU TO OUR CUSTOMERS for your continued commitment to helping Puppie Love’s mission in saving dogs and animals in need! You continue to be the difference we had always dreamed of making every day, and we could not be more grateful.
Finally, thank you to the Maui Humane Society for your continued work to help animals in need and being the voice for those who do not have one.

Hey Puppie Love Pack!
Guess what? We have some great news to share. Puppie Love® is giving our next donation to Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch for $5000! This donation gift was made possible because one of our kind customers thought Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch does an amazing job with helping animals, and we completely agree!
At Puppie Love®, we enjoy making cool stuff for people who love dogs. But our favorite thing is being able to give back to incredible organizations like Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch and the people on the ground doing this hard work to advocate for animals in need. It's because of your support and loyalty that we can continue making these donations - it's like one big Puppie Love Pack hug from all of us to them!
We want to tell you a story about a sweet mama pup at Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch. Meet Bea (pics below!), a brave and loving 2-year-old dog who went through some tough times. Bea was expecting puppies, but she was sick with heartworm. It made things very hard for her. She was in a shelter and things weren’t looking good. That's when Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch stepped up and came to Bea's rescue.
Bea found a safe place at the Ranch where she was able to give birth to her puppies, care for them with the help of a few new friends, all while being treated herself and getting healthy again. She was given special medicine and lots of love, as all new mamas should be. Bea and her puppies have since each found new homes with families who love them very much. Bea's story is like a fairy tale – from a tough beginning to a happy ending, all because of the love and care from Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch. We're so happy to be a part of helping animals like Bea!
Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch is also a special kind of group. They don't have a big building – instead, they have kind-hearted people who take care of these animals in need using their own homes. And guess what's even cooler? Today they have saved over 400(!) animals a year and opened a storefront called Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch Resale Shop. A thrift store that pours 100% of their profits right back into animals they serve.
As we celebrate this donation and the great work of Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch, we want you to join us too. Check out all the cool things we have at www.puppielove.com, and don't forget to follow us on social media. Together, we will continue to make a big difference for animals in need and show them how much we care.
Thank you for being on this amazing journey with us and supporting Puppie Love's mission of saving dogs across the globe!

June 13th, 2023. Baltimore, MD.
We are thrilled to announce that Puppie Love, in its continued dedication to supporting animal welfare, is donating $5,000 to Coco's Cupboard, Inc. Pet Rescue and Food Pantry. This donation will go a long way in helping Coco's Cupboard provide vital resources and care to animals in need.
Coco's Cupboard has been a beacon of hope for countless animals in the southern crescent of Atlanta, ensuring they receive proper medical attention, food, shelter, and, most importantly, love. The organization has tirelessly worked towards rescuing and rehabilitating animals from challenging situations, including those facing abandonment, neglect, or abuse. By donating to Coco's Cupboard, Puppie Love is joining hands with them in their mission to provide a haven for these animals and find them loving forever homes.
In addition to our donation, we are thrilled to share a heartwarming story that showcases the incredible impact Coco's Cupboard has had on the lives of the animals they care for. Meet Leo, a 5-year-old Chow Chow mix (we think) who was rescued just before he was scheduled to be euthanized at a local shelter. Leo's journey wasn't without its challenges. Shortly after being pulled from the shelter, he managed to escape through an open window, leaving everyone concerned and starting a major search.
For hours, dedicated volunteers scoured the area, searching along highways and fields, desperately hoping to find Leo safe and sound. Finally, with the help of a shelter worker who had formed a special bond with Leo, he was eventually recaptured—a testament to the strong bonds formed between animals and their caretakers.
Leo's resilience and determination won the hearts of everyone at Coco's Cupboard. Despite spending 1,865 days under their care, with 844 days being adoptable, Leo's wait for a loving forever home finally came to an end. We are delighted to share the incredible news that Leo was adopted on Monday, May 29 and is now living his best life! As the only dog in his new family, he is receiving the undivided love and attention he deserves.
Leo's success story is a testament to the tireless efforts of Coco's Cupboard and their commitment to finding loving homes for animals in need. Organizations like Coco’s Cupboard provide second chances to animals like Leo and we at Puppie Love are grateful to be able to support them.
In addition to their exceptional rescue efforts, Coco's Cupboard, Inc. has also established and manages two other organizations: Tao K9 Unleashed, a dog training and boarding company, and Tails of Hope, a service dog training organization. Tao K9 Unleashed provides comprehensive training services to dogs of all breeds, while Tails of Hope trains and places service dogs with individuals who can benefit from their support.
Once again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Puppie Love community for making this donation possible. Your continued support and love for animals have made a genuine difference in their lives. Together, we are making the world a better place for our furry friends.
Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey!

]]>Puppie Love has donated $5,000 to Beacon Animal Rescue in partnership with Sessoms Gifts, one of Puppie Love’s authorized retailers.
If you have ever taken a trip to the Jersey Shore, and stopped in Sea Isle City, you may have seen a gift shop full of items fit for every beach lover. Known as Sessoms Gifts and Candies, this store has been in business for over 50 years, providing the best in gifts, sweets, and apparel to the Jersey boardwalk. In recent years, you may have even thought it was a full Puppie Love store! With one of the widest selections of Puppie Love merchandise, Sessoms has something for everyone! We are so excited to partner with this amazing retailer to bring our next donation to the Jersey Shore!
Since 2003, Beacon Animal Rescue has been committed to serving the South Jersey region in supporting animals in need, providing support services and resources to pet owners, and lighting the way for greater care and education around companion animals. Not only does Beacon work to shelter and rescue many animals, they have also opened a Veterinary Clinic to “light the way for accessible veterinary care”. Beacon Animal Rescue is located in Ocean View, NJ.
Beacon Animal Rescue started with the help of volunteers. The non-profit no-kill shelter was created after these volunteers spent tireless hours trying to find homes for pets that had treatable diseases, but would have otherwise been euthanized due to overcrowding in shelters.
Beacon Animal Rescue is COMMITTED to the no-kill philosophy. Since 2003, they have a 100% adoption rate and their animals are cared for until they find their “furever” home.
Here are some success stories from Beacon Animal Rescue’s Facebook Page:
Adoption Stories:
"Beacon has given us the gift of 2 beautiful dogs in the last few months! We are so incredibly grateful for the care they gave these dogs before they became members of our family. Beacon has the kindest and most educated group of volunteers and the director is incredible as well!! They take great care of their animals and are just an amazing group overall."
"Beacon is a great place. You can tell they care about all their animals. We put our application for adoption on Tuesday and by Sunday our pup was home. Laurie was awesome from beginning to end. She kept me informed during the whole process which mad it a very easy process. Thank you Beacon for making our family complete!!!"
"I adopted Mikum in 2009. It was a great experience and he has certainly enhanced our lives! Mikum had been in the shelter for 6 months before we adopted him. Any other shelter would have put down what I have repeatedly called “the best dog I have ever had!” He’s now 14, guys and doing great!"

Puppie Love® is making our LARGEST SINGLE DONATION of $50,000 to Gulf Coast Humane Society (GCHS). GCHS is a non-profit, no kill shelter located in Fort Myers, FL that was left devastated after Hurricane Ian. This is all thanks to our amazing customers and their support of our Hurricane Pup T-Shirts!
On September 28th 2022, Hurricane Ian, a very powerful Category 4 hurricane, made landfall in Southwest Florida. Ian was the largest hurricane to hit this area since Hurricane Charley in 2004. Ian brought 145 mph winds and severe flooding to the area of Southwest Florida. The original trajectory of the storm quickly changed direction, allowing very little time for the residents to evacuate. The towns of Fort Myers, Sanibel/Captiva Islands, Punta Gorda, Pine Island, and Cape Coral were absolutely devastated. While some citizens were able to quickly gather their belongings, animals, and secure their homes, many were not able to evacuate in time. This led to people and their animals trying to reach the highest point in their homes (including the roof) to survive the 7 ft of flood waters and heavy winds. The damage caused to the area of SWFL was catastrophic, leading to over 100 human deaths, and destruction of many buildings and homes. SWFL is home to many domestic animals and wildlife. While many wild animals have evolved to survive hurricanes, many animals did not survive.
While Puppie Love® is not located in Florida, we wanted to do our small part to help SWFL! And what better way than to create an adorable t-shirt and donate 100% of profits to an organization in need?! On October 5th, 2022 we released our Hurricane Pup Tees. We were hopeful that our customers would enjoy this design and we would be able to make a small donation. BOY WERE WE WRONG! Within 1 hour, we realized this would not be a small t-shirt release, nor a small donation. Hurricane Pup quickly became one of the best selling shirts in our company’s history, allowing us to give the LARGEST SINGLE DONATION of $50,000 to Gulf Coast Humane Society. We are absolutely STUNNED by our community and our customers. From the bottom of our hearts, WE THANK YOU!
Gulf Coast Humane Society is a non-profit 501c-3 organization that has been servicing the area of Southwest Florida for more than 60 years! Their mission is “to provide humane care for surrendered animals by offering refuge, providing medical care, and facilitating an adoptive home” (www.gulfcoasthumanesociety.org). Being located in Fort Myers means that GCHS took a big hit from Hurricane Ian. When the storm formed, it was originally headed to the Tampa area. GCHS took in many more animals from this area in light of the predicted storm. Unfortunately, Ian had other plans, changing trajectory and forcing GCHS to transport as many animals as possible to other no kill shelters. While the animals were transported safely, the actual GCHS buildings were not as fortunate. Your donation will help to rebuild GCHS and offer a safe space for animals again. This will allow them to bring in more animals from surrounding areas that were also affected. The donation will allow for GCHS to build an establishment that will be safe from hurricanes in the future! Gulf Coast Humane Society is not just a shelter, but they also have a veterinary clinic and spay and neuter clinic. They handle a variety of services including dental care, vaccinations, and micro chipping. They have successfully completed over 3,000 medical procedures. GCHS takes in more than 1,000 animals in need of care EVERY YEAR! These include dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and even a pot belly pig!
THANK YOU TO OUR CUSTOMERS for your overwhelming support! You truly stepped up for the animals and people of SWFL, and we could not be more grateful.
THANK YOU TO GULF COAST HUMANE SOCIETY for your compassionate care for animals in need. Thank you for speaking up for those that cannot defend themselves.

]]>HELP RESCUE Southwest Florida with Puppie Love by shopping our new Hurricane Ian Relief Tee. We will be donating 100% of net profits to the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Fort Myers FL, an animal shelter that has been affected by Hurricane Ian. Gulf Coast Humane Society is one of many shelters that have been impacted by Hurricane Ian. Last week, Gulf Coast Staff and Volunteers worked hard to secure the shelter, making it safe and secure for the animals, through the storm. However, Hurricane Ian left them with lots of damage to their property, and without water and limited power for numerous days. They have made the difficult decision to safely relocate their shelter animals and close to the public for the foreseeable future, as they build back up.
Your support through the purchase of the Hurricane Pup Tee will help them to secure their facilities, as well as, begin taking in animal transfers from outlying Shelters who were also affected by the hurricane.

When we asked you to nominate an organization specific to our Autism Acceptance Pup, many of you nominated 4 Paws for Ability.
This incredible organization enriches the lives of people with disabilities by matching them with life-changing service dogs. They breed, raise, AND train these incredible dogs to assist their future human partners!
With YOUR constant love and support, Puppie Love was thrilled to make a donation of $5,000 to 4 Paws for Ability. Grab some tissues and read on to learn about Derek and his best buddy Layton from 4 Paws for Ability!
Today, Derek and his service dog were able to attend school together for the first time since we received him. We also just hit the year and a half mark where Derek met his best friend, Layton! These events have had me reflecting back on what life was like without Layton. Looking back I can't believe how fast this time has flown by but more importantly I'm overwhelmed reflecting on how much peace, laughter and joy this regal goofball has brought into our home. While waiting those 2.5yrs to get Layton, my husband and I talked and dreamed about how Derek's service dog could help him. But, I can honestly say that we didn't dream big enough!! We have seen so much growth in Derek's communication skills, responsibility, behaviors and most of all empathy.
Derek was almost 3 before he said "mom" and even then it was a "learned label" through his many different therapists working with him. He is not a "huggy" affectionate kid and still has a hard time reading & processing others emotions. After just a couple of days into our training class at 4 Paws I'll never forget watching Derek smother Layton with hugs and kisses! And if I'm being honest, as a mom those were the spontaneous hugs and kisses that I longed to have with him. We joke all the time now that the rolls of "kisses" have been reversed with these two. The only task Derek wanted his service dog to do was to give him kisses, so if I'm ever wondering where this dynamic duo is, all I have to do is be still for a minute and I will hear Derek smooching on Layton. I still tear up at times hearing Derek so compassionately telling Layton that "He loves him" and that he's "his best friend in the whole wide world". Derek does have so much love and compassion in him, we just needed this amazing ball of floof to bring it out!!
Since we have brought Layton home, we have been in constant awe watching Derek's social life bloom. Derek has autism so conversations with strangers is hard for him. You would never know this now. Out in public Derek is searching for people to be looking at his service dog. Many times before they even having a chance to comment on Layton, Derek so proudly tells them, "This is my service dog Layton, you can pet him if you want to!" We have seen this social bridge expand into areas such as school and other various youth groups he participates in.
Before we got Layton, Derek rarely slept thru the night. His mind was usually full speed ahead around 2:00 every morning and he would stay awake until that evening when we gave him medication to help his mind and body shut down long enough to get a few hours of sleep. It was such a brutal cycle for several years and I know that a lot of his behaviors during that time (which have decreased significantly) had to be related to severe lack of sleep. In this past year and a half that we have had Layton, some nights my heart just swells with so much love walking into Derek's room and seeing him sleeping so peacefully and relaxed. He has slept thru the whole night almost every night since we brought Layton home and let them sleep together!! I'm so grateful for this dog and for the peace, love and comfort he gives his boy!! Thank you 4 Paws for Ability for training such an amazing companion for our son!!

]]>After nearly a year apart, Akim ran into SrA Jenna’s loving arms in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Uniquely qualified in detection and patrol, Akim was paired with SrA Jenna in 2020. They served in South Korea, patrolling the air base, searching vehicles at the gates, and training with the Republic of Korea Air Force Special Forces. In Nov 2021, they were forced to part ways.
While serving, Akim had a near-death experience after accidentally swallowing a bee and suffering from an extreme allergic reaction. SrA Jenna leaped into action as Akim went into anaphylactic shock, picking up the 70lb dog and running to the veterinarian on base. Thanks to her quick action, Akim survived. SrA Jenna spent the next 2 days by his side and even slept with him in his kennel to keep him company. From that day forward, SrA Jenna always had an EpiPen on hand.
Tragically, Akim lost his eyesight when resuscitated and in recovery. He eventually regained some vision and was able to perform his duties on base again, but it never fully returned. This unfortunate incident formed an unbreakable bond between Akim and SrA Jenna, and the pair have been inseparable ever since. SrA Jenna knew she wanted to be the one to give him a forever home when he finished his years of service.
MWD Akim traveled more than 6k miles from South Korea to New Mexico, where his best friend was patiently waiting. Along the way, Akim stopped to take in new sights! He particularly loved watching the sunset at Grand Canyon National Park in AZ.
MWD Akim is home at last, and SrA Jenna plans to reward Akim in his retirement by doing all the things he may have missed out on while working – traveling, swimming, fishing and having fun! Akim will get the retirement he deserves, alongside the person who loves him most.
]]>We are bringing the Puppie Love® to Annapolis, MD! And this time…it’s not just a check! Our next donation of $5000 goes to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County (AACSPCA).
About
The AACSPCA was founded in 1920 to help the stray dogs in the area. For many years following their inception, the organization handled dog licensing and enforcement operating a fleet of six ambulances that were dispatched through the city to assist injured animals. Now in 2022, the AASPCA has continued to provide shelter and humane care for homeless animals in need while also advocating for animal welfare in their community.
One thing (of many) that we LOVE about AACSPCA, is there is no time limit placed on how long an animal is available for adoption. They embrace animals in need – regardless of age, breed, or physical condition – and provide them with care until they find a forever home! They take in dogs, cats, rabbits, and MORE!
As a result of their efforts they have maintained a record high life-saving rate of 98% every year since 2014, and have been awarded the Charity Navigator award for many consecutive years. The below quote is from Michael Thatcher, President of Charity Navigator:
“This is our highest possible rating and indicates that your organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that [the] SPCA of Anne Arundel County exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work. Only 13% of charities we evaluate have received at least 6 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that [the] SPCA of Anne Arundel County outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets [the]SPCA of Anne Arundel County apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”(https://aacspca.org/about-us/)
Services
The AACSPCA offers numerous services including:
AACSPCA additionally holds many fundraising events throughout the year. One of which is just around the corner. Hearts and Hounds Mall Crawl that will be held on February 13th at the Westfield Annapolis Mall!
Puppie Love® could not be more honored to have the ability to donate to such a wonderful organization, and it is all thanks to our customers! We were lucky enough to visit the AACSPCA for a day, bring food, toys, beds, blankets, and numerous other supplies and meet some of the precious animals available for adoption. Thank you to the AACSPC and all of their amazing work! Thank you to our Puppie Love® pack for making this possible!

]]>Puppie Love®’s next donation of $5,000 is going to American Humane in Washington, DC. American Humane is a non-profit organization that has been promoting the welfare and safety of animals for over 100 years! Since 1877 they have been the first to serve, wherever animals need rescue, shelter, protection, or security. And yes, wherever means wherever! Their efforts to save all animals are not limited by zip code, state, nor continent! American Humane originally rescued and cared for 68,000 horses EVERY month after deploying first responders to Europe during World War I. Over time, they have responded to national disasters such as Pearl Harbor, 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Dorian, the COVID19 pandemic, and most recently, Hurricane Ida. (www.americanhumane.org/program/animal-rescue).
American Humane seems to be involved in just about everything! From Animal Rescue, to Military Initiatives, monitoring animal actors in Hollywood, and their efforts in conservation and preventing extinction, American Humane is driven to help all animals.
Today, we are particularly honoring all the brave veterans and service dogs that have fought courageously on the battlefield for our country. American Humane has been working with the U.S. military for over a century. They have fought hard to help military working dogs be reunited with their former handlers by raising funds for their transport home.
American Humane’s Pups4Patriots™ Program is devoted to rescuing shelter dogs and training them to be service dogs for veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress, and Brain Injuries. Highly specialized training is required for these service dogs, which tends to drive a hefty bill. American Humane provides these dogs to veterans for free. They also award grants to veterans for the continued care of these service dogs.
There is no doubt that the connection between animals and humans is a miraculous bond. We cannot thank American Humane enough for their tremendous efforts to strengthen this bond even further.
Thank you to all our customers for your continued support of Puppie Love®. Without you, this donation would not be possible.

]]>We are bringing the Puppie Love® to Birmingham, AL because of our favorite customers...you!
Our next $5000 donation goes to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. GBHS has been operating since 1883 (yes you read that right…138 years!!!!). In all this time, their mission has remained the same: “To promote the humane treatment of people and animals through education, advocacy, and services” (gbhs.org/mission).
GBHS is an amazing organization that does a bit of everything for our furry friends in need. Rescuing from puppy mills, dog fighting rings, and natural disasters, GBHS certainly has their hands full helping the animals in their community (and beyond). GBHS has 4 different campuses, offering Animal Care and Controls, an Adoption Facility and a Surgery Clinic.
Animal Care and Control
Their Animal Care and Control is the largest of it’s kind in the entire state of Alabama! They pride themselves on ensuring the humane treatment for animals through sheltering care, rehabilitation, and adoption.
Adoption Facility
The GBHS Adoption Facility is a 30,000 square foot adoption facility whose primary role is to provide quality care, enrichment, and shelter to animals awaiting their forever homes. The center also runs the state's largest Pet Pantry which provides spay/neuter, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, and veterinary care to pet owners in our community.
Surgery Clinic
GBHS runs a Critical Care Clinic that provides spay/neuter surgeries as well as veterinary medical support to every animal in their system.
GBHS Rescue Stories!
Below are some recent stories from GBHS! The following articles and photos were provided by The Greater Birmingham Humane Society
Wicket’s Story
Wicket was found in February wandering the streets of Birmingham, matted and with a hurt leg. After medical evaluation, it was determined his leg would need to be amputated and that he was heartworm positive. However, he quickly captured the hearts of the staff, as well as his new mom, Abigail. He was part of the foster-to-adopt program while receiving treatment for his heartworms, and after 10 months, his test came back negative!
His mom and GBHS staff were thrilled.

Our next donation of $5000 is going to the Friends Helping Friends Foundation in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. FHFF’s mission is to “Enhance the care for homeless and displaced animals by building resources, leading development and advocating for the success of Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control” (FHFF, 2021). Not only does FHFF care for homeless animals, but they strive to educate their community, by bringing awareness to animal cruelty and prevention in Cedar Rapids. Friends Helping Friends Foundation also offers “Creature Comforts” including a 40’ x 60’ Exercise Pen for dogs to play and train.
As many know, the cost associated with rescuing injured animals can be incremental. Many organizations rely on volunteers and donations to assist with these costly medical cases. FHFF has sponsored many cases, providing veterinary care, dental care, and covering surgery costs. They also sponsor training opportunities and offer low cost rabies/micropchip clinics to the community. This includes:
Since FHFF relies on donations, they have hosted many events to help with fundraising in their community. Casino Nights, Coffee Cafes, and a Valentine’s gala assist with raising funds needed to help the animals in their community. Due to COVID many in-person events have had to be put on hold, but FHFF has gotten creative and hosted a virtual trivia night to assist with fundraising in a safe way!
Below are some stories from FHFF that show the amazing work they have done to help animals in the Cedar Rapids community.
Thank you to our amazing customers for all of your purchases! Without you, these donations would not be possible. Thank you to FHFF for continuing to spread the “Puppie Love®” by helping homeless animals, sponsoring medical costs, and educating members of their community on animal cruelty.

Our next donation is going to Lucky Dog Refuge in Stamford, CT! Many of you know that Puppie Love is a family run company, so we love partnering with other family owned organizations, just like Lucky Dog Refuge! Lucky Dog Refuge was founded by a mother-daughter duo in March 2020, inspired by the 6 rescue dogs of their own.
Opening their rescue at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic brought about many challenges, but LDR stayed committed to helping animals with medical concerns, and finding them their forever homes. In just 2020, LDR was able to find homes for over 200 dogs! They plan to rescue 250-350 in 2021!
Lucky Dog Refuge prides themselves as being a safe haven for dogs MOST in need. They rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs who are stray, starving, sick, or at risk of euthanasia. LDR doesn’t stay local, they have managed to takes in dogs from all over the U.S. including Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
Thank you to our amazing customers for making these donations possible! And a special thank you to Lucky Dog Refuge for everything you do for pups in need. Below are some rescue stories from Lucky Dog Refuge over the past year!
(The following articles and photos were provided to Puppie Love by Luck Dog Refuge).
Oceana’s Litter
“In September 2020, we received an SOS call from the Bissell Pet Foundation; there was a shelter in Arkansas that lost funding, and all the dogs were scheduled to be put down unless rescue could be found for them. Of the 15 dogs in need, Lucky Dog Refuge committed to the remaining 11 that could not find rescue. We did not know anything about them – not their breeds, genders, temperament, or health status; in fact, we only received photos of them the day before they arrived. But that did not matter, all we cared about was that the dogs were safe.
They arrived and each one was amazing in their own ways. Most of them were placed in their forever homes within a week or two of arrival. But not Oceana – she had a surprise for us! When she stepped off transport at midnight, we could see, despite the darkness, a bloated belly that could only mean one thing....puppies. Sure enough, a couple weeks later, on October 4, 2020, she gave birth to 12 healthy, gorgeous puppies at Lucky Dog Refuge – and all survived! We named them all after Islands in tribute to the getaways that so many people had to cancel this year due to COVID and continue to daydream about for next year.
We helped the puppies with Oceana and raised them to 8 weeks and today (December 4, 2020) they are all going home to their amazing forever families and Oceana now find one of her own. Parting with them is very bittersweet as they have become a very beloved part of the Lucky Dog Family....but now it is time to write their own fairy tails” (Lucky Dog Refuge, 2021).
Moose
"Meet Mr. Moose! This 5-ish year old fella was found in Scott County and needed medical attention immediately. He didn't have a square inch on him that is not scuffed up or scarred. He was missing all the hair around his neck from wearing a heavy chain. He had a tumor under his neck – a bullet in him – and older injuries to both hips. But despite everything he has faced, he is an absolute doll.
Moose was probably hit at some point and the ball and socket of the leg is crushed into the pelvic bone. This also could have been caused from being shot because there is a bullet in him. The other leg is out of socket and is also an older trauma. At the time, we did not know if these issues were fixable but wanted to explore all options before giving up on him. These issues may not be fixable or may be costly to do so. We do not want Moose to suffer but also want him to have a chance of surgery is an option. There were local vets who told us not to waste our resources because his case was so severe - but thanks to experts at Mississippi State, we were able to successfully get Moose into surgery and treat him.
He has been in the care of one of our wonderful and experienced fosters, which has been taking him to canine rehabilitation therapy; he continues to improve and get stronger every day! Lucky Dog Refuge is funding his medical care and we hope to bring him up to Connecticut when he is healthy enough to travel” (Lucky Dog Refuge, 2021).

When you want to help rescue dogs, don’t buy a copycat product.
Thanks to great customers like yourself, Puppie Love® has been able to make close to $200,000 in cash and product donations to over thirty animal shelters and rescue organizations. However, due to our popularity, many copycat brands have emerged in the marketplace. These copycats or “parasitic brands” try to get as close as they can to imitating our original product name and design without crossing “legal” boundaries. Sometimes they do cross the line, and we aggressively attempt to get them to stop using our legal remedies. The name Puppie Love®, our dog shape with the leash in its mouth, and our heart shaped paw print are all federally registered trademarks of Puppie Love, LLC. Even with federal trademark protection, many other companies try to make products that look similar to our original designs and feed off the popularity of our established brand. They generally try to get a piece of our market by selling lesser quality products at lower prices. When this happens, not only are customers confused and can mistakenly buy an inferior product, but ultimately Puppie Love® can not donate as much money to help rescue dogs.
So, please always look for original Puppie Love products. Puppie Love® products always have our logo with the ® trademark symbol, always spell Puppie with an “IE” ending and always have our label printed in the neck or have an identifying hangtag. Puppie Love® never uses iron-on transfers to make t-shirts in the store. If you are unsure about the authenticity of the product, ask the store owner if it is an authentic Puppie Love® product or feel free to contact us by phone at 410-633-0309 or by email at orders@puppielove.com
While we love cats as much as dogs, we don’t love COPYCATS.
]]>Muddy Paws Rescue is a 501c3 organization based in New York City. Muddy Paws actively partners with different shelters and helps to pull out dogs and place them in their forever homes. Since the organizations inception in 2016, they have managed to help save 3,500 dogs! Their vision statement is to “envision a world in which adopting an animal is a positive and stress-free experience for all, removing all barriers and encouraging adoption as the default option for adding a pet to the family.” Their foster-based rescue is truly living out this vision while educating the community. We frequently discuss how important foster-based rescue can be. Dogs and puppies are able to live in a home environment and receive additional love and socialization away from a kennel environment.
Another reason why we absolutely love Muddy Paws is their transparency with the public. They post monthly and yearly statistics on their website showing real numbers proving the work they are doing and the impact it is making on their community. In addition to the statistics, you can find many stories of their rescues on the “news” tab of their web page. Their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter make it easy to see the available dogs, current foster situations, and success stories. Check out one of their success stories below, Dallas!
THANK YOU MUDDY PAWS for spreading the “Puppie Love” to all the dogs you help. THANK YOU TO EVERY PUPPIE LOVE CUSTOMER for every purchase you have made to make this donation possible!
The following story was featured on www.muddypawsrescue.org on December 16th, 2019. Photos are also featured on Muddy Paws Rescue, courtesy of Rescue Dogs of New York. For more stories like below check out their website at the above link.
“Dallas is Collie mix who came to NY by way of our partner shelter in Kentucky in late September. While we never know too much about the backstories of our pups, we knew that Dallas was, unfortunately, in an abusive situation, which led to one of his legs being amputated right before he joined our Muddy Paws Pack.
Despite his past, Dallas was a sweet, gentle, respectfully curious pup who was perfectly behaved on leash, house trained and crate-trained. He was practically the perfect foster pup, but we knew he would need a home that could care for his physical needs as a tripod pup.
Then along came Carrie, who had lost her beloved Corgi Emmett to a degenerative spinal disease a year prior. For the last 8 months of his life, Emmett was in a wheelchair. It took Carrie awhile to put away the pain of losing Emmett, and about a year later she decided she might be ready for a new dog in her life. Carrie lived in Boston, but her sister Casey and, her partner, Doug are two of Muddy Paws fantastic fosters. They’d occasionally send Carrie photos of the Muddy Paws Rescue dogs in their care. When Carrie received the photo of Dallas, she was intrigued.
Carrie learned that Dallas was very sweet and good around other animals (perfect for Carrie as she has a resident cat) and a total snuggle bunny. Hearing about Dallas simply made her heart melt. Plus, after caring for Emmett in his wheelchair, she felt a dog with a disability was right up her alley! Carrie filled out an application to adopt and went to meet Dallas in New York the very next weekend.
Dreamboat Dallas
When they met, Dallas was still healing from having his leg amputated so he was a little clumsy, but all things considered, was managing very well. Carrie says he was a “dreamboat” and the rest is history.
When he arrived in Carrie’s home, he walked right in and fell asleep.
Since getting to Boston, Dallas and Carrie have had lots of adventures. They visited a farm in Ipswich, they love going to the beach and Dallas attends a weekly playgroup where he runs around on his 3 legs with all his friends. Dallas even got a snazzy new haircut to celebrate his new life.
Dallas, Lucy Cat and mom Carrie love their new forever family and sing “3 is the magic number” together after dinner most nights.

Wings of Love, Kuwait is a volunteer-run, nonprofit dog rescue organization that was founded in 2015. This amazing organization is local to us at Puppie Love, as they are based out of Baltimore, MD!!! Wings of Love, Kuwait is a unique organization, because they bring pups in need to the US from Kuwait to find their forever homes.
Why Kuwait?
In Kuwait, it has become almost “trendy” to import and own very high-end exotic breed dogs. Most owners are not researching the pups, but rather purchasing them online like a designer hand bag. Breeds like Huskeys, Caucasians, and Tibetan Mountain Dogs are among some of the “designer” breeds that are commonly purchased in Kuwait. Most of these dogs need extensive training and A LOT of exercise. Once the novelty of a new puppy wears off and the owners leave for their summer vacations, the dogs are thrown out on the street, or left for dead in the desert. Kuwait’s sweltering desert temperatures leaves little chance of survival for most pups. While this is the case in many other countries, the situation is especially horrific in Kuwait. The animal control efforts from the government are inhumane and plain disgusting as there are no official shelters in Kuwait. The solution in Kuwait is to either leave out rat poison or shoot the dogs.
Wings of Love, Kuwait has individuals living in Kuwait that rescue these dogs, provide compassion, medical care, training, and a place to live. These individuals work with the staff here in the US to try to get as many dogs to the states as possible so they have a chance of survival.
Jennifer from Wings of Love, Kuwait shared a recent story about Shenzi with us. Shenzi was one of the pups brought over from Kuwait. He has a broken leg that never healed correctly causing his A LOT of pain. With our donation, Wings of Love Kuwait is going to give Shenzi the surgery he needs as well as other dogs in similar situations. After hearing the news of the Puppie Love donation, Shenzi was ADOPTED!!!!
Because of our amazing customers, Shenzi is able to get the surgery he needs and go to his forever home with his amazing new owner, Jim! Jim loves him and he said he couldn’t imagine his life without him now.
THANK YOU Wings of Love, Kuwait for everything you do for our furry friends in need. THANK YOU to all of our customers for making this donation possible. The state of Alabama has one of the highest dog euthanasia rates in the county. Due to these high rates, the shelters are overwhelmed with animals. HASRA (Heart of Alabama: Save, Rescue, Adopt) is a 501-c3 non-profit rescue organization that is working tirelessly to help reduce these euthanasia rates and find these pups a forever home. HASRA takes in dogs that would typically end up in animal control facilities. It is sometimes the hardest cases that are the most important, and HASRA welcomes these cases with open arms. “HASRA is committed to continuing [their] support of North Alabama animal shelters and to help save as many un-housed animals as possible. With the help of many cooperating rescues, the animals [they] save become loving companions for humans all over the country. [They] value the life of every precious animal who comes to [them] and have always made a concentrated effort to save animals that would otherwise have little to no change of survival” (www.hasra.org/mission).
HASRA was introduced to us through YOU ALL! Many nominations and overwhelming community support for this organization made it clear that this is a deserving rescue. Puppie Love is donating $5000 to help HASRA take in these tough cases, because EVERY DOG deserves a chance.
Teresa, one of the board members at HASRA, shared two amazing stories about their recent rescue cases. Check them out below!
CHANCE
This is Chance.
Chance had his legs wired to a board and was stuffed down in an aquarium, then left on the side of a rural county road. A passerby saw him and took him to the local animal shelter. Chance was paralyzed, had mange and intestinal parasites. The shelter called HASRA to see if we wanted to try to save him, and of course, we said yes. The first day I saw him, I thought to myself that this was one that we wouldn’t be able to save. He was barely alive, but after vet care and lots of love, a spark returned to his eyes. I saw this baby 3 days later and I couldn’t believe it, but I knew that he had the will to live. He started barking and showing a little spunk. He had a long way to go, but we were all willing to do whatever it took. After he started regaining his strength, we got him a set of wheels. Wow! He took off running instantly. We were all crying, it was such an emotional moment. His paralysis was permanent, but that doesn’t slow him down at all. We were very lucky and found a wonderful rescue in Arizona that takes in handicapped dogs. He has become a permanent resident there and spends his time as a therapy dog. He visits those who need encouragement and is an inspiration to us all. Oh and I have to mention, he lives on a golf course and his favorite thing in the world to do is chase a ball.
Want to see more of what Chance is up to? Check out his Facebook Page Here: CHANCE’S SECOND CHANCE
ZOIE
This is Zoie. She had been left for dead in the woods terribly thin. She had leg tissue and bones exposed. Amy [from HASRA] arrived at the scene and saw that the pup was nothing but sweet even though she had been terribly mistreated. HASRA took in Zoie and treated her injuries while helping her feel safe. A foster home was arranged before Warrior Dog Rescue [in Minnesota] agreed to take Zoie to Minnesota to find her a loving forever home. After Zoie’s first vet checkup in Minnesota, there came quite a surprise….Zoie was pregnant!! It was not apparentat all since Zoie was so thin, but as she regained strength and gained weight, it became evident. The vet confirmed their were at least five healthy heartbeats and that she would give birth in just a few short weeks!!!!
UPDATE: Last week Zoie had her babies. Another surprise came when Zoie gave birth to 8 puppies instead of just five! Mom and all her babies are doing wonderfully and as you can see in the photo below, Zoie is beaming with joy while her wounds continue to heal. She is going to be an amazing mama!
THANK YOU HASRA for everything you do for our furry friends in need. THANK YOU to all of our customers for making this donation possible. Your purchase helps dogs like Chance and Zoie, and we cannot be more grateful for your support. ]]>We are bringing the Puppie Love® down to Jackson, MS. The birth of puppies and kitties increases when the weather becomes warmer in most areas, and especially Jackson, MS. One of Puppie Love®’s extremely supportive customer’s, Shoe Station, nominated a rescue near and dear to them, Cheshire Abbey, and we are sending them $5000!
Cheshire Abbey is a 501c3 specializing in managing the fostering and adoption of dogs and other animals in Jackson, MS. Chrissy Cheshire founded Cheshire Abbey in 2011 as a British-themed animal welfare ministry. According to Chrissy, “Cheshire [her last name] is British, and I love [the British] sense of humor. You have to laugh at some point in rescue or you’ll just breakdown. You have to keep humor in your life in some way, and I wanted it to be a ministry, which is how we got abbey.”
Cheshire Abbey is a “group of guys and girls who do what [they] can, when [they] can, to help the animals in need in [their] community” (Cheshire Abbey). Chrissy explains the story of how the abbey was started:
“Right after I’d started the abbey, there was this starving dog, and they said it was the most emaciated dog they’d ever seen on Briarwood. I posted it [on Facebook] and it received 1,000 shares within 3 hours. People from all over the nation were calling in. It snowballed, it went from that dog to 10 more calls ever single day. I was like, ‘I’m never going to get the business plan down. It’s been that way ever since, nonstop. There’s no time to sit down and do anything. It just blew up.”
Chrissy did not choose the life of helping animals, but feels as though she was called to help. It has been 8 years since she founded the organization, and still works 24/7 to help the immense number of stray dogs that are called into her on a daily basis. She tries to do small fundraising to cover the enormous vet bills, food, and necessities. They also are trying to educate the community and change overall legislation. Chrissy states:
“The responsibility of an animal’s needs is in the hands of its owner. The responsibility of animals without owners is in the hands of people in the community. Please help us make positive changes in our community.”
We want to also give a HUGE THANK YOU to Shoe Station for recommending this wonderful organization. Shoe Station is one of the nation’s largest independently-owned shoe retailers, with stores in Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Georgia. You can shop their stores at www.shoestation.com. We want to thank all of Shoe Station’s amazing customers for supporting Puppie Love® and making this donation possible!

This winter has proved to be one of the coldest yet. In some cities, the weather has proved to be life-threatening with extreme windchills and subzero temperatures. While extreme temperatures have proved dangerous for humans, we have to remember all of our furry friends that are in danger as well! We are spreading the Puppie Love® to a place that had record-breaking, historic low temperatures at the end of January, Chicago! Chicago temps fell down to a negative 23 degrees and remained below zero for 52 hours straight! We here at Puppie Love® felt that we needed to help so our friends at Crimson Ridge, a boutique in Rockford, IL, pointed us in the right direction…to Paws Humane Society, also located in Rockford, IL.
Paws Humane Society was founded in 1988 as a spay/neuter assistance operation. They have grown into a full-service humane society, even reaching into the public-school systems to educate future animal owners! The organization has 3 major programs: adoption, spay/neuter, and education! In 2018, Paws facilitated 640 adoptions and 1841 spay/neuter programs. They also provide a newsletter named the Kind News to over 300 area classrooms. This periodical educates future animal owners on the humane care of animals. Educating the community can lead to a decline in animal surrenders in the future, which is just as important as saving these animals! Paws also holds the No-Kill recommended status!
Sue Golan, Board President of Paws Humane Society, shared some recent rescue/adoption stories with us! Check out Alana(for the Kittie Kittie lovers) and Kelli’s stories below 😊
“Kelli is a dog we took in after she was found wandering in the Belvidere Walmart parking lot one rainy day. She was filthy and confused. Someone must have abandoned Kelli there and she was blind. There was not a sweeter dog on earth so it is so upsetting to know she was treated so poorly. Kelli had to have one eye removed and the other is treated with eye drops. She is a healthy, happy girl that loves her doggy sister, goes everywhere and is so loved in her Forever Home!”
“A recent adoption involved Alana. She was found begging to get into homes during the coldest day of the "winter vortex". We don't know how Alana ended up outside but she certainly didn't belong there. She is a super sweet front declawed girl who was desperate to find warmth and safety. After we claimed Alana, she only had to wait a few days to be adopted into a loving home! We were so glad her wait was short. We hope that the other cats brought in to our rescue during this record cold period also find homes quickly....”

]]>This month Puppie Love® is donating $5,000 to the Central PA Humane Society! The Central PA Humane Society (CPHS) serves Blair and surrounding counties in central Pennsylvania. They are a charitable, non-profict 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to helping animals and people. The primary goal of CPHS is to find loving homes for adoptable animals. The designation of “no-kill” can be applied to any shelter that euthanizes less than 10 percent of their animals a year, for reasons of health and temperament. CPHS has met this designation and has provided a safe haven and forever homes to more than 90% of animals that enter their facility. CPHS has adoption programs, partners with rescue groups, and also uses foster care to help as many animals as they can! CPHS won’t euthanize for illness that can be treated, behavior that can be modified, or for length of stay, providing there is quality of life for the pet. Below are some stories from some of the animals from the shelter!
Hi, My Name is Buddy!
I had quite the year last year! It was a lonely and painful beginning, but thanks to the wonderful work of the Central PA Humane Society, I now have the best ahead of me.
It all started last winter when my family didn’t want me anymore. I really don’t know why; I try hard to be a good boy. They tied me outside, hidden in the backyard, and abandoned me with no food, water or shelter. I barked and cried from hunger for what seemed like forever until someone heard me and called the CPHS Humane Officer to help me. No one knew I was back there. As you can see in my photo I was very weak from starvation. I only weighed 66 pounds. The veterinarian at the shelter was so kind and helped doctor me back to health.
After many weeks of medical care from the awesome staff and volunteers, I was running around and playing with toys again. Something was still missing. I wanted a family to call my own. Then one day it happened. A family came in and wanted to foster me back to health and ready for adoption. A couple of weeks later they told me, I was home! I never knew how wonderful life could be.I now get to sleep in a warm house every night filled with love and attention, but best of all, a full tummy!
Can you all help all of my friends at the shelter so they can also find happiness like me.
Many Tail Wags in Thanks
Love Your Friend,
Buddy
Hi, I'm Lincoln!
I have a very big wish this year. I wish for you to help spread the word that all of my friends at the Central PA Humane Society needs your help!
I spent a lot of time at the shelter this year getting treated for a skin condition that almost killed me. It all started when I was found as a stray and dropped off at the CPHS. The kind Veterinarian showed me such compassion, and tried to help me stop itching. I scratched day and night. I couldn’t even sleep. As you can see my fur was gone, and my skin was raw and infected. They tried everything to help me but to my dismay, nothing worked.
Soon the Vet was out of medications to try, and decided that a skin graph was in need. I was miserable and in so much pain. The cost was the problem, but it was the last resort to find an answer. I’m happy to say it worked! It was a food allergy all along. Just take a look at me now. My new family loves me so much, and I truly couldn’t be happier. I thank everyone for their kindness at the CPHS for not giving up on me. Without the financial support of the community, I wouldn’t be here.
Won’t you please help my friends at the shelter to be as happy as I am by making a donation? There would be a lot of tail wags in thanks if you do.
Love,
Lincoln
