Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc on Texas and particularly Houston and its surrounding area. The storm dumped four feet of rain in four days. 450 square miles of land was under water. Billions of dollars in damage, thousands of families displaced, many fatalities, untold misery and heartbreak are all the results of this storm of Biblical proportions. A little-known law in Texas allows for governmental animal control shelters to legally euthanize dogs after only a three-day holding period. Concerned residents are currently petitioning the governor to extend the minimum time to 30 days in an effort to get more dogs adopted or reunited with their owners. The Friends For Life animal shelter in Houston is working tirelessly to help get these animals placed. It is estimated that there were 1,200,000 dogs displaced by Harvey. We already announced that Puppie Love™ donated 650 t-shirts for the fabulous DogFest festival held by the Baltimore Humane Society on Saturday, September 16, 2017. The volunteers working the event proudly wore their custom DogFest tees while working to make sure the 1000’s of attendees, both canine and human had a great time. Additionally, sales of the t-shirts raised over $3,000 for their great organization.
