One month ago, we launched the Peace Pup Collection in honor of Aloka the Peace Dog and the Venerable Monks who walked from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, DC, carrying a message of peace, love, kindness, and compassion across the country. Watching Aloka’s journey, paw by paw, mile by mile, reminded us why we do what we do. His story inspired our team and our community in the most beautiful way. Now that the Walk for Peace has officially reached DC, we’re honored to continue that ripple of goodness by donating $5,000 to Cowtown Friends of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control, supporting the very community Aloka and the monks call home. This gift will directly fund lifesaving efforts, from enrichment supplies to foster support, giving more shelter animals the comfort, care, and second chances they deserve.
Cowtown Friends of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control (FWACC) is a nonprofit led by a dedicated volunteer board committed to enriching and enhancing the lives of animals in FWACC’s care. Each year, thousands of dogs and cats are helped thanks to generous donors and tireless volunteers who believe every animal deserves hope. By raising critical funds, Cowtown Friends supports life-changing programs and services that improve the health and wellbeing of Fort Worth’s homeless pets. They also host regular community adoption events throughout Fort Worth, connecting animals with loving families and helping more pets find homes faster. These efforts don’t just save lives, but strengthen the bond between the community and the animals who need it most.
At one of their summer adoption events at a local brewery, a dog named Chance was doing his best to be brave. The noise and crowds were a lot for a shy, scared black dog, and he stayed close to his handler, unsure about everything happening around him. Plenty of people walked by. Then one family stopped. They moved slowly, gave him space, and let him come to them. Within a few minutes, the change was noticeable. He leaned in for pets. His body relaxed. A small tail wag made an appearance. It was clear he felt something different with them. They felt it too.
By the end of the event, Chance was headed home with his new family and a new name, Tressel. Since then, he has been settling in, building confidence, and learning how to trust again. Tressel is just one of the many dogs adopted through community events featuring incredible pets from Fort Worth Animal Care and Control. These events give dogs who might otherwise be overlooked a real chance to connect. And sometimes, all it takes is the right family stopping at the right moment!
When you support Puppie Love, you’re part of stories like this. Real dogs, real impact, real second chances.
